Hello, and God bless to all veterans, especially those who flew with my father Eugene Winchester in the VMB-612. Dad passed away a few years ago, and I so miss the stories he would tell of his adventures flying those night missons 200 feet off the water. I had searched for information on the USMC B25 squadrons in the South Pacific....without luck. I never actually knew the name of his squadron, but, I just found a photo of dad and Ted Boutwell at the 1992 reunion......which led me to this site. I noticed the log entries start at July 15, 2008, is this a new site? I am so glad I found it.... John Winchester

| Name: David Fish From: Camarillo, CA E-mail: Contact |
I am David Fish, son of VMB 611 pilot First Lieutenant Doit L. Fish, who with his crew went MIA on May 30, 1945 during a combat strike on Mindanao, Philippine Islands. In my research of my father and VMB 611, I have also learned more about the Marine Bombing “sister” Squadrons. In so doing, I was able to make contact with VMB 612’s Navigator-Bombardier M/Sgt Robert F. Reed (MD), obtaining his book A DROP IN THE BUCKET of WORLD WAR II. His book is very interesting reading and provided me a history and insight to the service of VMB 612 and the men who served in the squadron. As the son of a sister squadron member, may your contributions and sacrifice never go dark in our memory. In Their Honor, Semper Fi. Dave Fish

VMB-612 veterans and friends. Currently I am the CO of MCAS New River. This air station has changed dramically since its early days in WW II. MCASNR is now home to all rotary wing and V-22 tilt rotor aircraft that support II MEF. Over 50% of the 2d MAW flying aircraft are based at this station. Your service and sacrifice has not been forgotten.
