Howard C. Raetz was my father and flew with you guys. Dad passed away July 6, 2005 just short of his 80th birthday (Aug 15) he never talked much but had a few stories about Saipan and Iwo Jima. I would enjoy to hear from anyone who new him...God Bless....

I met many of VMB612 at the 50th anniversary reunion in Savanna. We flew the PBJ MB 3 'DEVILDOG' up from Houston. The DEVILDOG still flies the air show circuit, proudly flying the squadron badge of VMB612. I tell everyone YOUR story !!!!!

Thank you to all the WWII veterans for your service. Hopefully this website will add another chapter to the history of WWII, one that is little known but as deserving as any other chapter. My father served with the USAAF in the Pacific and supported the Marines on Bougainville. Semper Fidelis Tom
